Micro-needling creates micro channels which kick your cells into repair mode, without causing it any permanent damage. This process kickstarts the cellular regeneration in collagen, elastin and hyaluronic production and allows better penetration of cosmecuetical grade skin care products into the layers of the skin.
Microneedling harnesses the body's own healing response making it a completely natural treatment:
When microneedles create microchannels, it allows topically applied skin care (with it's active ingredients) to be fully absorbed by the skin. Without microneedling 7-10% products are absorbed but with microneedling 80%+ products are absorbed.
On average, a series of three to five microneedling treatments, spaced 4-8 weeks apart, is recommended, and then maintenance treatment as needed. For more severe conditions addtional treatments are recommended. The 4 phaes of healing takes 28 days. Once your 5 treatments are complete, we recommend seasonal or twice yearly depending on age and damage on the skin.
Ensuring the optimal health of your skin is crucial to minimize/avoid complications. During microneedling treatments, tiny "micro-channels" holes are created in the skin, and if unhealthy products are applied afterward, harmful ingredients can penetrate deeper layers, leading to infection or adverse reactions. At Dermaly, we prioritize your safety.
When you come in for a consultation, we ask you to bring all the products you use on your face and décolletage/skin. We carefully examine them for any unhealthy or dangerous ingredients and provide you with a list of ingredients to avoid. If your products aren't healthy, we won't proceed with the treatment and will recommend healthier alternatives for your skincare routine. Your well-being is our top priority.
We aim for healthy skin! Acheiving healthy skin requires more than just recieving a quick fix for surface beauty. Our client and Dermaly teamwork approach ensures we maximize your results that is ongoing and long term. We use incorporate Oxygen Infusion in all of our sessions.
A shallow epidermal skin roller for personal use at home has needles of just 0.2mm in length. The deeper microneedling pen has 0.5+mm UP to 2 mm long needles, specially designed for professional (that is ‘in clinic’) treatments.
In treatment Microneedling Pen targets deeper layers of the skin to trigger collagen induction while the at home rollers only reach the surface layers (up to 0.2mm) to cultivate the results and encourage deeper absorption of at home skincare.
Results best achieved by both personal and professional treatments and using them strategically to compliment each other can make the benefits cumulative for both the skin’s appearance and long-term cellular function.
Client Approach- Personal Care
Personal
In general, the shorter the needles, the more tolerated the treatment will be. Use a personal skin roller for skin maintenance and to complement your clinic treatments.
Dermaly Approach- In Treatment
Professional
Needles shorter than those on a professional skin microneedling can’t trigger the biological processes that induce collagen. That’s why professional treatment is vital if your goal is to improve acne-scarring, fine lines or stretch marks – for results beyond those that can be achieved at home.
UNDER 30 YEARS: 2x per year for prevention of collagen loss
30-45 YEARS: 4x per year for maintnenance of collagen production
45+ YEARS: 4-6x per year to supplement collagen production
As an option to jumpstart the results, a series of 3-5 treatments spaced 4-8 weeks apart works well when initially beginning a microneedling treatments and then moving to the treatment timing above. Additional treatments maybe required depending on the severity of the condition.
RIGHT AFTER: Edema, erythema and mild swelling (the degree depends on each person). Skin will feel tighter, firmer and immediatley looks more vibrant-fresh and dewy.
FIRST 1-2 HOURS: Edema, erythema and mild swelling starts to subside. Skin continues to look more firm, lifted and glowing. Appearance of fine lines and wrinkles will decrease.
DAY 1-3: Edema, erythema and mild swelling continues to subside
Your white blood cells remove damaged tissue triggering new skin regeneration and release of growth factors
DAY 3 -5: Increased exfoliation and dryness
Formation of new blood vessels to supply oxygen and nutrients, formation of new collagen fibers and new skin cells
DAY 5-20: Improvement in texture and tone
Continued rebuilding of new collagen, during this phase home rolling is recommended to stimulate additional growth factor
Days 20-28 DAYS TO 2 YEARS: Improvement in pigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles and scars begin
The final phase in healing where collagen matures and is transformed into collagen type I.
Working with the skin that is fully absorbant (exposed due to needles) is very different as we need to respect the skin when the surface barrier is wide open. Concentrations of active ingredients found in traditional skin care tend to be higher so the percentage of what gets applied can penetrate the skin.
Applying these same formulations to exposed skin (from microneedling) can be too strong causing irritation and sensitivity.
To avoid this, professional grade clean formulations are recommended which includes skin care products that are specifically formuated and tested for post care. Avoiding potentially toxic ingredients found in regular skin care/cosmectic products is strongly recommended.
1) Our new Micro-Needling sessions begin with an Oxygen Infusion.
Hydrating and feeding a blend of multivitamins, minerals and collagen-boosting nutrients to the skin helps to reduce sensitivity and prepares the skin to optimum condition. Proper skin preparation can significantly improve results, your quality of recovery and reduce the dryness that can accompany the recovery period.
Dry micro-needling is effective but accompanying the rolling procedure with serums can significantly improve the efficacy of the treatment. That’s why we team the skin needling procedure with our Oxygen Infusion loaded with vitamins, peptides and collagen boosting ingredients.
The result? A carefully designed treatment to give you the best results in every step of the process.
